Aglow

New paint medium I’m playing with. And a very short trip out to plein air paint during peak fall colors. I only had 30 minutes before the rain moved in, and rain and water soluble pigment doesn’t go together, so this one had to get a few more layers added in the studio. Being rusty at plein air, working in an unfamiliar medium, overall I’m pretty happy with this sketch. It’s not often one gets to paint with cadmium yellow straight out of the tube! 

Ceracolors are a water soluble wax paint, yes you read that right, WAX! A little like encaustic, a little like oil, a little like gouache. I’m brand new to them but am really enjoying a little test kit I got from Natural Pigments along with several tubes I purchased out of curiosity. I have to say, hmmm, I really like them. Stayed tuned. I’ll post more as I get more brush miles in with them.
